Artist Statement
Making masks is a highly enjoyable activity; getting to grips with a large lump of clay and watching a character emerge, then using it as a mould on which to create a wearable mask!
I make masks and puppets in a wide range of styles, sizes and materials; each one is unique and many are commissioned by schools, colleges, theatre companies and private individuals. I also facilitate mask and puppet making and performance projects with primary and secondary schools and community groups.
Lockdown has also led to a rekindling of my interest in painting and drawing; walking in countryside has inspired a series of observational pieces in pen and ink and watercolour.
