Kathleen Geater: Glass Casting
Artist Statement
I take my inspiration from the world around me. The beautiful landscape of the North East bares the marks of its industrial past, and I seek to evoke this in my work through exploration of shape and form, I am influenced by the presence of making and makers, past and present, in and around Newcastle where I am based.
I have worked with kiln formed glass for over 10 years and in 2015 achieved an MA in Glass from Sunderland University ; new learning brings new challenges and I continue to be excited by the depth of possibilities that kiln glass offers.
I am currently exploring the reactions of elements within glass and this alludes to the reaction of time and imprint of memory upon the land.
I make unique pieces for sale and exhibition and am happy to discuss commissions.
