The Paintings of Elizabeth Talbot
Elizabeth Talbot: Painter
Artist Statement
My interest lies primarily in the potential of landscape drawing and painting to express feeling and mood. Whilst I take inspiration from looking and being in the outdoors, I don’t seek to represent particular locations. Rather, I am interested in creating a balance between conveying atmospheric qualities and reflecting the complexity of natural forms. For these reasons I am very drawn to trees and woods as subjects.
I feel free to use a range of source materials including drawings from observation, found photographs and invention. My process is one of gradually building up each work mark by mark, layer by layer to arrive at a final image. My methods include occasional mono-printing and collage and for materials I generally use oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoal and ink.
